Program

A full program of oral and poster presentations over two days will be followed by a short course on fractals and natural hazards by Cristian Suteanu.

The conference is particularly pleased that the following speakers have agreed talk on the provisional themes indicated:

Bruce Hobbs (CSIRO): Dynamic Systems and the thermodynamics of rock Deformation

Bjorn Jamtveit  (University of Oslo ): Hierarchical fracturing processes: field observations and simulations

Jorn Kruhl (Technical University of Munich): Analyzing rock structures by fractal geometry: new methods of quantifying fabric anisotropy and heterogeneity

Alison Ord (CSIRO): Fractals, Rock Deformation and Fluid Flow

The conference will be held at Jupiter's Hotel, located on the Townsville breakwater with spectacular views over the Coral Sea to Magnetic Island.

Your registration includes an icebreaker at the Poolside terrace at Jupiter's Hotel on 12th August at 5.30 pm

The conference dinner ($80.00) will be on 14th August in the hotel at 6.00 pm.
