We have put together a list of Frequently Asked Questions about On Campus accommodation, see if you can find your question answered here.
How can I apply?
Students can apply for On Campus accommodationon line. Applicants are asked to follow the instructions carefully, to ensure the application is processed with the minimum of delay.
How does the process work?
Study Period 1
Applications are considered after the 1st of September in the preceding year.
The Colleges and Halls will make a number of offers to applicants who apply prior to December and will be advised of this information by email. Applicants who do not receive an early offer will be advised as to the progress of their application by email in the first weeks in December.
These applicants and all those who apply after December will be advised as to the success of their application as soon as possible following the QTAC offers made in the third week in January, again by email. All care will be taken to ensure this information is passed on to students as soon as is possible.
Study Period 2
Applications are considered after the 1st of May.
All students will be advised as to the success of their application as soon as possible in July, after QTAC offers are made, by email. All care will be taken to ensure this information is passed on to students as soon as is possible.
It is important to note,
-
There are no closing dates for applications.
-
The offers of On Campus accommodation are made by the residences themselves, not by the Accommodation Service.
-
The majority of applicants will not find out as to the success of their application until after the QTAC major offer round.
-
The application process is not a “first in, best dressed” process, however it is strongly recommended that applications be submitted as early as possible or even just prior to the beginning of the application process.
-
An offer of a place to study at JCU does not necessarily mean On Campus accommodation will be available to students. On Campus accommodation is limited.
-
If a place On Campus is offered and accepted you are committed to the contract conditions of that particular residence. You will be required to sign a contract for the full academic year and there are penalties for early withdrawal. Approval to withdraw without penalty will only be given in exceptional circumstances.
