FNQNRM Tilapia Project Objectives

• Elevate public awareness of risks of non-native fishes
• Increase public participation in management
• Develop regional rapid response mechanisms and Integrated Management Plans for the long term
• Provide a web site as a one-stop-shop with information on non-native fishes
• Map the extent and distribution of non-native fishes
• Conduct strategic research on ecology and impact of non-native fishes - "filling the gaps"
• Decrease rate of introductions & spread of non-native fishes
• Eradication or control of local non-native fish populations
