[Postgrad-bulletins] TODAY 12noon: SIS info session on 'ci'

Busy schedule today? Bring your lunch to the SIS info session (12.00-1.00pm):

SIS info session TODAY, 6 December, 12noon

HLT in Townsville
A3.001 in Cairns
Meet the 'ci' version of Student One that we will go-live with in late 2006, and go into a draw to win a Microsoft Wireless Optical Desktop 1000.

Student One was developed with a Windows-type user interface, but is now being developed to have a webpage look and feel. This new user interface is called 'ci' (for 'connected intelligence'). Yes, that's just a marketing term, but the new interface is supposed to be pretty impressive (according to a few JCU SIS Implementation Team members who've had a sneak preview).

The plan is for JCU to go-live with this new ci version, so the rest of us on the SIS team are particularly interested in seeing it. We thought you too might like to see what's in store, so we hope you'll be able to join us for a video-conferenced presentation of the ci version of Student One. Teresa Murphy, the Student One product manager, will present in Townsville, with a vc link to Cairns.

You'll see:
  • how one button-click will take you straight to a page you want to work on (rather than having to navigate your way through various hierarchical levels on a menu bar)
  • how the SIS windows you may have seen in Student One demonstrations will be displayed as pages
  • how you'll be able to search for, say, 'all my applications', and then see them presented in a way that you choose
The flexibility of the ci searching tools will make it easier for you to get the info you want, and display it in a way that you customise for yourself. Sounds like good stuff.

But if that's not enough to entice you to join us, we thought a chance at winning a free wireless keyboard and mouse might be. A friend of the SIS project has donated two Mac and PC-compatible Microsoft
Wireless Optical Desktop 1000 sets (wireless keyboard, mouse and receiver). One JCU staff member in Cairns and one in Townsville will take home a wireless optical desktop (new in the box) just for attending the SIS info session.

Want to know more about the prize? Go to http://www.microsoft.com/products/info/product.aspx?view=22&pcid=612903e6-e037-4578-b572-5895623e040f&type=ovr and read the Microsoft blurb.

The SIS team is looking forward to seeing you at noon today.

Regards, Carla
