Weâve got two rooms available. Both are unfurnished and carpeted; both have a ceiling fan and an air-conditioner. The bathroom will only be shared between the occupants of these two rooms. These rooms are singles! We might reconsider allowing a couple but weâd prefer not. We would require a couple rented both rooms. My husband and I live in a great 4 bed 2 bath house in Annandale. Iâm studying Zoology and Marine Biology at JCU and Robâs a taxi driver on the night shift. We have great neighbors and the house is close to the shops and bus line at Annandale Central. JCU is only a 10 minute drive (or 45 minute walk along the river). Our house tends to be pretty quiet and conducive to studying, although we often have something going on. Thereâs lots of common space and a big kitchen. Both Rob and I love to cook so we often have âyou buy the groceries and we cookâ nights with housemates who donât cook or âwe cook for the house and then you cook for the houseâ agreements with housemates who enjoy cooking. We also have a big backyard with a comfy porch swing and a garden. If you like to garden, youâre welcome to grow veggies and stuff. Oh, and thereâs no smoking in the house but we donât mind if you get your nicotine fix in the backyard. We also have some gym equipment (elliptical and one of the home gym things) which you can use, if youâre into that kind of thing. Weâre seeking housemates who are laid-back without being a total slob. We usually share cleaning supplies, spices and oils, and other kitchen stuff (like paper towels, dish soap, Ziploc bags, etc.) so you need to be willing to either replace what you use or pitch in a little cash. We also share appliances, cookware, gym stuff, etc., so we ask that you are reasonably respectful of our stuff. (If you intend on only your own stuff than obviously this doesnât apply.) You also need to be honest and, if thereâs a problem, be willing to come to us for a rational discussion. We canât take on any more pets because our lease wonât allow it. We have a Great Dane puppy so you must be ok with dogs. We also have chickens, which means we always have tons of fresh eggs. Youâre welcome to these as long as you donât go on an all egg diet and eat them all (I canât believe I have to put that but we had someone do it!). We prefer someone looking for long(ish)-term accommodation (a year or more) but a single semester is ok too. However, we wonât consider anything less than a full semester! Sound good? Hereâs the deal: the rooms are $100 per week each plus expenses. We also ask for $400 bond (4 weeks rent) when you move in, although if thatâs a hardship, weâll see if we can work something out. If you want wireless internet, itâs $5 per week. We also have a house cleaner come in once every two weeks and thatâs $10 per week. We do this to eliminate household chore drama about whose turn it really is to mop or whatever. In addition, thereâs the electricity bill every 3 months, which we split four ways (unless someone has been really unreasonable about the power, in which case we adjust for that). Itâs usually $50-$75 every three months. If youâre interested (or have questions), give me a call/email and weâll get you here to check it all out! Steph stephanie.morton@jcu.ecu.au 0448-282-026
