[Staff-bulletins] ALTC Citations for Excellence - 2008

Dear Colleagues

The Australian Learning and Teaching Council (ALTC) 2008 Citations for Excellence were presented at Customs House in Brisbane earlier this week.  JCU was well represented with 7 awards (10 awardees).  Professor Janet Greeley, who was also in attendance, has advised it was a wonderful event and the JCU team was impressive.

I would like to pass on my congratulations to all award recipients and to also congratulate their Schools and Faculties.

The award recipients are:

Mr Clive Hutchinson – for engaging and motivating tertiary creative arts students through sustained development of innovative, industry relevant, flexible subjects and resources that stimulate deep and collaborative learning.

Dr Angela Hill – for redesign of curriculum to incorporate work-integrated learning and authentic assessment, reflecting a command of the field of teacher education, and inspiring students’ learning.

Dr D’Arcy Mullamphy – for dispelling the fear of mathematics through respect for the learning of individuals.

Dr Pauline Taylor – for integrating extensive professional knowledge and experience into quality teaching that supports, motivates and inspires first-year education students’ learning.

Dr Stephen Torre – for enhancing positive student engagement in university literary studies through student-centered learning curricula incorporating advanced methodologies in humanities and authentic assessment.

Prof Kim Usher, Ms Joanne Tollefson, Dr Kim Foster & Dr Lee Stewart – for the sustained development and implementation of effective curricula which promotes student learning in nursing education in regional, remote and Pacific locations.
