Research Advancement Program Awards (RAP)
Following approval by the Vice-Chancellor of the RAP Selection Advisory Committee (SAC) recommendations, I am pleased to announce that RAP grants have been awarded to the following 5 clusters.

Establishment of a medical genetics research cluster at JCU - Prof Alan Baxter et al

Finfish & emerging aquaculture - Prof Rocky de Nys/Prof Ned Pankhurst et al

Adaptive resource management linking ecology and social sciences - Prof Terry Hughes et al

AVANTI Group (Ageing, VAscular, Nutrition, Trials & Information) - Prof Lee Kennedy et al

The impact of global climate change on tropical biodiversity - Dr Stephen Williams et al

$3,667,500 has been awarded in total for three years.  The RAP SAC commented on the high quality of the applications and are confident that the successful research programs will make a valuable contribution to JCU's research profile.  While 5 applications were unsuccessful, the SAC rated these as highly commended and were strongly of the opinion that the further development of these collaborations and research programs would result in highly competitive areas in the future.
