Human resource managers are involved with managing people, teams, selection, recruitment, organisational change, interpersonal communication, and leadership. The significance and gravity or workplace legislation such as workplace, health and safety and equal employment opportunity have increased demand for experienced human resource specialists. Specialist studies in areas of strategic human resource management, recruitment, training and development, employee relations and remuneration are integrated with general business subjects to ensure students develop relevant managerial skills alongside a broader business education
The course includes foundation subjects in the areas of accounting for decision making, economics, data analysis, customer experience, management and personal professional skills. These subjects are then complemented by specialist topics in strategic human resource management, employee relations, new forms of work and organisation, cross cultural management, personnel economics and contemporary HR issues.
The JCU Bachelor of Business offers choice and flexibility because you can enhance your expertise by combining Human Resource Management with a second major from Accounting, Economic and Regional Development (Townsville only), Financial Management (Townsville only), Hospitality Management (Cairns only), International Business (Cairns only), Management and Entrepreneurship, Marketing or Tourism Management. Alternatively, you can study in non-business disciplines to cater for individual interests or a specialist career goal.
