Diploma of Economics is a one-year full-time program for students who have an undergraduate degree in a discipline other than economics. It is designed to help prepare graduates to be economic analysts in the public or private sectors. Entry requirements include an approved bachelor's degree. Evaluation is normally by coursework as per the structure below. |

Structure
Not fewer than 24 credit points which must include:
EC5211:03 Forecasting
EC5212:03 Introductory Economics
EC5204:03 Managerial Economics
EC5205:03 Economic Growth and Labour Market
EC5206:03 Macroeconomic Policy
EC5207:03 Microeconomic Policy
EC5208:03 International Trade
And either
EC5202:03 Project Evaluation
Or
EC5209:03 Regional Economic Development
Or
EC5210:03 The Economics of Environmental Management
Or other subjects approved by the Faculty Pro-Vice-Chancellor on the advice of the Head of the School of Business.
Note:

Students with limited prior economics may be required to take EC5103:03 Business Economics (or equivalent). Similarly students who have limited quantitative skills may be required to take EC5203:03 Business Statistics (or equivalent). In these cases, the student may apply to the head of program to vary course requirements. |

Students who have passed subjects that are equivalent in nature to those listed above, may apply for advanced standing for such subject(s), up to a maximum of 12 credit points. |

Students who have passed more than 12 credit points in subjects that are equivalent in nature to those listed above, may only apply for advanced standing for 12 credit points. However, they may be exempted from other ‘equivalent’ credit points, taking approved electives in their place to fulfil course requirements. |
