Aquaculture: Management of Culture Systems

Townsville HECS Band 2

19 hours lectures, 6 hours tutorials, 36 hours practicals. Semester2.

Available to students enrolled in the Bachelor of Applied Science, Graduate Diploma, Master of Applied Science or Masters programs.

This subject discusses the factors which should be considered for the management of a system for culturing aquatic organisms. It addresses fundamental principles and concepts rather than describing how to grow a particular species. Therefore, as a result of studying this subject, students will be able to manage a design for a system for culturing any aquatic species.

This subject shares lectures, tutorials and practical classes with AQ3005 .

Learning Objectives:

  1. describe the requirements for and parameters to be considered in the management of an aquaculture system;
  2. describe the environmental effects of aquaculture operations;
  3. design and conduct appropriate management regimes to operate and maintain various aquaculture systems.

Assessment by examination and assignments.
