On-line Multimedia Design

26 hours lectures, 26 hours tutorials, 39 hours practicals. Semester 1.
This subject focuses on the creation of interactive on-line multimedia. Students will use contemporary multimedia development tools to create interactive multimedia systems for Internet/web delivery. Students will be exposed to current design issues; designing and developing interactive multimedia interfaces; incorporating graphics, sound and animation into multimedia projects; synchronising different media types; multimedia programming and scripting; event handling and object-oriented concepts. The multimedia design process and team concepts are stressed.
Learning Objectives:
- ability to use contemporary tools for the development of interactive on-line multimedia;
- understand how to create digital resources for on-line multimedia;
- understand contemporary performance issues for on-line multimedia;
- understand contemporary application environments for on-line multimedia.
Students should be able to demonstrate the required capabilities at a level appropriate for postgraduate studies, including analysis and design.
Assessment by on-course assessment in the form of assignments, a major project and an examination.
