Work Placement

Townsville, Cairns HECS Band 1

Semester 1 and 2 block mode.

Available to Bachelor of Indigenous Studies students.

This subject is designed to provide students with a practical on the job work placement with a suitable organisation, negotiated between the Centre, a suitable employer and each student. Employers and students will be requested to provide a report on the outcomes. Job work placement with a suitable organisation.

Learning Objectives:

  1. the capacity to identify the functions and purpose of an operating organisation;
  2. the ability to function as a team member, including the personal and professional disciplines necessary in a work place environment;
  3. the ability to undertake basic workplace tasks with minimum supervision;
  4. an understanding of the function and role of the organisation to which they have been attached.

Assessment by attendance and participation (20%); employee report (30%); student report/ demonstrable production contribution (50%).
