Radar Techniques

Townsville HECS Band 2

25 hours lectures. Full year.

Staff: Professor M Heron.

Principles of modulation, simple pulsed radar, coherent radar, chirp, frequency modulated interrupted continuous wave; synthetic aperture. Special applications: satellite remote sensing radar, over-the-horizon HF radar, basic ionospheric propagation.

Learning Objectives:

  1. students will gain a working knowledge of radar principles and modern practice.

Assessment by a three-hour examination and assignments.
