As part of the Division of Tropical Environments and Societies, the College of Science, Technology and Engineering is the home of JCU's expertise in the physical sciences, chemistry, earth sciences, and engineering to form a strong grouping uniquely placed to tackle the grand challenges facing the tropical world.

The College of Science, Technology and Engineering is establishing a new programme in Electronic Systems & Internet of Things (IoT), as part of the Bachelor of Engineering, to be offered at JCU's Cairns campus from 2016.  The undergraduate IoT program will be the first in Australia and will combine the study of electronic engineering with internet technologies, wireless communications, sensor devices, industrial design and cloud computing.

The College is led by the Dean, Professor Paul Dirks.
