The Research Innovation and Development Office [RIDO] is part of
Research Services.
It aims to provide the University with expert and professional services in all matters relating
to the University's research-based commercial activities and legal environment.
Functions supported by the Office include the administration of and the provision of information about:
Objectives
The Research Innovation and Development Office endeavours to:
- expand and diversify external research and development funding from industry and government sources;
- identify and support opportunities for research collaboration between university, government, industry and other research organizations;
- manage the negotiation of R & D and research contracts with external bodies;
- advise researchers about prospective sources for development and commercialization of IP;
- facilitate a culture of innovation;
- identify and facilitate new business opportunities;
- advise on IP management and protection; and
- market the University's research capability.
