Impacts on Study for Students with a Medical Condition


The following are some of the most common areas of difficulty for a student with a medical condition:

  • Participation in class due to fatigue or when energy levels are low

  • Frequent absenteeism owing to hospitalisation, relapse and/or medication changes

  • Some medications resulting in lethargy or low concentration

  • Completing tasks especially when physical discomfort is an issue

  • Intolerances to extreme heat or light and to some chemicals

  • Feelings of anxiety and depression affecting learning
