About Us

An artists impression of Townsville City - CTURP helps to develop graduates who are able to address the planning needs of the growing northern economy

The CTURP was established in 1993 in response to the need for a substantial focus toward the urban, regional and environmental planning within North Queensland.

In a region such as North Queensland where expanding industries and population cohabit with natural environments such as the Great Barrier Reef and Wet Tropics World Heritage areas, the need for locally educated planners is especially important, and CTURP places particular emphasis in teaching and research on the characteristics of settlements and issues in remote and tropical environments.
