Scholarship Opportunities for

Engineering Undergraduate Students

Students studying engineering at James Cook University have access to over $800,000 in scholarships.Due to the relationship with the engineering community and the support they provide, the School of Engineering has a wide range of scholarships, bursaries and prizes available to students in all year levels.

Scholarships currently available to JCU Engineering students are listed alphabetically.

Australian Defence Force

Undergraduate students aiming for careers as Engineering Officers in the Royal Australian Navy, Australian Army or Royal Australian Air Force are paid up to study at James Cook University. Engineering scholarships are offered to all years and for further information visit Australian Defence Force

Australian Power Industry

API offers Power Engineering Bursaries to students with an interest in areas of engineering relevant to the electric power industry.For further details visit the API website.

AngloAmerican

AngloAmerican Australia is one of Australia’s leading coal producers with extensive coal mining interests and prospects in Queensland and New South Wales. Each tertiary scholarship will provide the recipient with $12,500 per annum (dependant upon meeting the requirements of the scholarship program), for the course of their degree (maximum 4 years) plus guaranteed vacation work placement with one of our operations. BHP Billiton, Cannington

Located in northwest Queensland the world’s largest and lowest cost single mine producer of both silver and lead.Through the Cannington Scholarship Program, two students from James Cook University are awarded $10,000 a year for the remainder of their study.

Scholarship holders are also offered Vacation work at Cannington throughout the summer months. The two scholarship positions are advertised through local media mid year.For further information visit BHP Billiton.

Cairns City Council Cadetship

Cairns Regional Council offers Cadet positions in various disciplines including Engineering. As a cadet you are employed by Council whilst undertaking external studies at University. Cadetships are advertised as they become available on the council website.

Ergon Energy

Ergon Energy supplies electricity and related products and services to regional Queensland. The Ergon Energy Electrical Engineering Scholarships provides $6,000 per academic year towards your studies, an annual $1,000 book allowance, access to co-op and vacation work opportunities and the chance to become part of the Ergon Energy Graduate Development Program.For further details visit Ergon Energy.


Queensland Department of Transport & Main Roads

A Department of Transport & Main Roads Scholarship provides living, study and incidental expense allowances, paid employment during university holiday periods and a full-time job with main roads once you've completed your studies. For further details visit Department of Transport and Main Roads.

Townsville City Council Cadetships
