Summary:

In 2006, the Queensland Government committed to the development of a statutory regional plan for the FNQ region. The FNQ2025 Draft Regional Plan is intended to guide and manage development within the region over the next twenty years. The preparation of the draft regional plan has been a collaborative undertaking across all levels of government with key stakeholders and input from the community.

The release of the draft regional plan will provide the community with an opportunity to comment and file submissions. This presentation provides a brief overview of the FNQ2025 draft regional plan: its objectives, strategic direction, preferred pattern of development, regulatory provisions and most importantly – how to access the plan and make comment.

Speaker:

Robin Clark

Robin has a Masters of Environmental Science and over 20 years planning experience from Victoria, Queensland and Western Australia, with a focus primarily on coastal and marine planning. She was the Senior Coastal Planning Officer with the Coastal Management Coordination Committee in Victoria, before moving to Cairns in the early 1990’s to work with the Department of Environment and Heritage on the Trinity Inlet Management Plan, Cape York State Marine Park and Coastal Management Plan for the Wet Tropical Coast.

In 1999 she shifted to Western Australia where she worked with the Department of Fisheries, managing the State’s multi-million dollar pearling industry, assisting the industry to resolve land-use conflicts over pearling leases in the Kimberley, maintain export approval under the Environmental Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act and survive a National Competition Policy assessment of the industry.
