Remote Health Conference 2008

This year the conference will be held over two separate venues:

  • plenary sessions are to be held at the Mount Isa Civic Centre in the main auditorium

  • concurrent sessions will make use of the Red Earth Hotel ballroom and conference facilities.

Both venues are located on West Street in the Mount Isa centre.

Summary:

Every two years Mount Isa hosts a conference aimed at bringing together people with an interest in all aspects of health in remote Australia.

As in previous events, the purpose of this year's Conference is to provide a forum for information exchange and debate about issues relevant to remote health with a particular focus on the following themes:

  • clinical practice in remote areas;

  • population Health including Indigenous health;

  • workforce supply, education and training;

  • research outcomes such as innovation in health service delivery.

This conference is convened by the Mount Isa Centre for Rural and Remote Health in collaboration with a range of stakeholders including, Queensland Health, the Royal Flying Doctors Service, James Cook University, and North and West Queensland Primary Health Care.
