Development of a tool to assess tourism's impact on the health of local host communities in rural and remote areas

Funding: $8,600

The aim of this project is the completion of a substantial piece of work towards the development of an impact assessment tool examining current and future impacts of tourism on the health of local communities living in rural and remote travel destination.  With that tool, a community can make health-related decisions about accepting or rejecting tourism developments on the basis of possible short and long-term health impacts.  Also, this tool will enable international collaborative research teams to study community health in relation to tourism in rural and remote areas in Australia and overseas.
