The Schools within the Faculty of Law, Business and the Creative Arts are expanding rapidly to meet the needs of tertiary education within the Asia-Pacific Region, and has strong teaching and/or Research Partnerships in the following locations:

Townsville campus entrance
  • Townsville – Located in the 'dry' tropics, Townsville is one of Australia's largest regional cities with a population of over 150,000 people. The city is home to James Cook University's largest campus at Douglas. The campus provides a diverse range of services and facilities for students, including accommodation for over 1,000 on-campus residents. The campus is adjacent to the Townsville General Hospital and is within walking distance to new residential areas, bushland and parkland. Most of the on-site academic programs offered by the School are available on the Townsville campus.

  • Cairns – Located adjacent to both the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area and the Great Barrier Reef, the Cairns campus offers a spectacular setting in which to study tourism, accounting or business-related courses. Cairns is a vibrant regional city and a leading tourist destination with a population of 130,000 people. James Cook University's Cairns campus is located at Smithfield. While not as large as the Townsville campus, the Cairns campus was established in 1996, and offers modern facilities and support services for students. Most of the on-site academic programs offered by the School are available on the Cairns campus.

  • JCU Singapore – With more than 30 years of experience in leading workforce education in Singapore, PSB Corporation - a wholly owned subsidiary of the Singapore Government Statutory Board SPRING Singapore - has selected JCU as their partner in bringing internationally recognised tertiary education to Singapore. Programmes at JCU Singapore are taught to the exacting standards that have established the University’s excellent reputation in Australia. In order to meet the high expectations of students, the core academic staff of James Cook University lecture, co-ordinate and quality-assure all programmes. They are supported by experienced, well-qualified and dedicated lecturers from Australia and Singapore who meet the University’s strict academic selection criteria and adhere to its stringent quality standards at all times.

  • SEGi, Kuala Lumpur – SEG International Bhd (SEGi) is one of the leading private education providers in Malaysia. It began with the first Systematic campus established in the heart of Kuala Lumpur’s commercial district offering mainly professional qualifications in 1977. Since then, the Group has grown organically and through acquisitions. SEGi’s main business focus is in education which helps meet the market demand for skilled workforce. There are 14 colleges and six training centers under the Group in 11 major towns and cities throughout Malaysia.

  • Guangzhou University, China – Guangzhou University (GU) was founded as a multi-disciplinary institution on July 11, 2000. The university covers a total area of 1,000,000 square meters with a building space of 642,000 square meters in its five campuses situated respectively in Guangyuan, Guihuagang, Luhu, Qiyi Lu and Longdong. Its well-stocked library has a total collection of 1,820,000 books. GU makes Guangzhou the basis of its operations. The University comprises 14 schools, faculties and colleges and offers 41 undergraduate programs with a disciplinary coverage of 8 categories including literature, science, engineering, economics, management, law, education and history. The university has up to 46 research institutes/centers specializing in a wide range of subjects and has cooperative relationships with universities and academic institutions in USA, Australia, France, Russia, Italy, South Korea, Japan, Switzerland, and in regions like Taiwan, Hongkong and Macao.GU and James Cook University have established a cooperative relationship to deliver a Master of International Professional Accounting which has CPA Australia accreditation.

  • Xi'an International Studies University, ChinaXi'an International Studies University (XISU) was founded in 1952 in the province of Shaanxi, in the ancient city of Xi'an. It is one of the oldest language schools in the PRC. Eight languages are taught in XISU: English, Russian, French, German, Japanese, Spanish, Italian and Mandarin (for Chinese students as well as for foreign students). About 20,000 students are studying in the establishment. The JCU School of Business has established strong research and teaching linkages with XISU, particularly in the area of tourism. XISU students are able to complete a portion of their studies at James Cook University's campuses.
