Tim Reynolds: Awarded MBA/MPA Student of the Year at the Australian Institute of Management Awards Ceremony.
The Australian Institute of Management recently held their North Queensland Management Excellence Awards at Riverway, Townsville. The award ceremony saw Tim Reynolds, Chief Executive Officer, Rockfield Technologies Australia Pty Ltd awarded the prestigious honour of James Cook University MBA/MPA Student of the Year.
Entries in this award category were of a particularly high standard with managers from all over the region vying for the honour. The MBA/MPA Manager of the Year award recognises developing or aspiring managers who are involved in any level of management in an organisation or business in a professional capacity. Entrants in this award are required to have been in their current role for at least 12 months, be a current JCU student and have completed a minimum of six units as part of an MBA or MPA at JCU. They were also asked to respond to a selection criteria so as to disclose how skills acquired in the MPA/MBA program have attributed to success in their workplace.
Tim has been very successful in his chosen career and when appointed Operations Manager of mechanical engineering consultancy Rockifield Technologies in 2007, Tim established a plan to build the company of four engineers into a million dollar business.
At this time he also commenced postgraduate MBA studies at JCU.
Putting his running MBA skills into practice in areas like marketing and change management, his million dollar growth goal was achieved and exceeded in the 08/09 financial year through increasing services. Prior to working in private enterprise, Tim held a high rank in the military.
As a Major in command of a maintenance and logistics squadron, he led 100 soldiers into the devastated Sumatra region after the Boxing Day Tsunami in 2004.
He also worked as the Reconstruction Engineer for the Iraqi Security Forces in 2006. Tim is the Chairman of the Board for the Townsville Regional Engineering Cluster. Through establishing a clear company vision, developing innovative services and exceptional management and leadership of his team, Tim has achieved strong sales growth in challenging financial times. His MBA studies have provided inspiration and ideas that have been instrumental in guiding sustainable business improvements in the past 2 years.
