Organisational Structure
The Higher Degrees by Research Sub-Committee is responsible for administration of research higher degree programs. Through a standard procedure of delegation however, this authority is exercised by the Dean of Graduate Research Studies who is ex officio chair of the Higher Degrees by Research Sub-Committee.
The Higher Degrees by Research Sub-Committee performs an important role in the administration of research higher degree programs. The Committee recommends proposals for changes in policy and degree requirements to Research Committee for approval.
The Higher Degrees by Research Sub-Committee advises the Dean of Graduate Research Studies on the administration and supervision of research higher degree students generally.
The Graduate Research School is responsible for:
- i.
administration of research higher degree candidature matters;
- ii.
research scholarships administration;
- iii.
examination of theses, from the submission stage to approval of the award of the degree; and
- iv.
secretariat support to the Higher Degrees by Research Sub-Committee;
- v.
organisation of the Research Skills Program and Communicating Research: Skills for International Postgraduates (SKIP) Progam.
