Communicating Research: Skills for International Postgraduates (SKIP)

The SKIP is a program offered to international postgraduate research students at James Cook University to assist them to further their critical reading and writing skills, to develop their spoken and written English in an academic context, and to furnish support to them and their supervisors in the production of the essential documents of a research proposal, literature review and confirmation seminar.

The program aims to develop postgraduates’ independence in research and writing, to provide a solid grounding in the academic culture of JCU as well as providing assistance with essential grammar and editing techniques.
