Deliver holistic, culturally-appropriate health services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
Partnerships with the Education and Training Sector
Partners consulted in the Higher Education and Training sectors identified the need for:
Better definition of the skills and competencies required by Aboriginal Health Workers located in Community Controlled and mainstream Health Services in the future to enable them to plan their training programs and delivery models effectively.
Investment in innovative teaching and training models such as Teaching Centres in Health Services and pilot funding for curriculum development and training for new disciplines and for innovative teaching programs.
Ongoing dialogue with the sector about Indigenous health professional targets and effective educational preparation.
