Living in Tropical North Queensland

Rainforest DriveIt’s often said that Australia is the lucky country. If that's true, then north Queenslanders are the luckiest of the lot, what with the wonders of the Great Barrier Reef just off the coastline, rainforest and waterfalls close by and the Outback, just a matter of hours away.

Townsville is the business and industry centre for north Queensland and together with Thuringowa, has a culturally diverse population of 140,000.

BeachCairns is a four hour drive to the north, and is one of Queensland's busiest tourist destinations.

Around four hours away is the far north Queensland coast and the city of Cairns.

Cairns is one of Queensland's busiest tourist destinations with everything from white water rafting to marlin fishing on offer.

The Great Barrier Reef is literally minutes away from Cairns and the Wet Tropics Rainforests (also listed by the World Heritage Society) are close by.

Tropical, colourful and sophisticated, Cairns offers something for everyone.
