2nd Year Rural Supervisors

Wanted Rural and Remote Medical Practitioners to supervise 2nd year medical students.

Our 2nd Year Rural Placement program aims to provide students with:-

  • An in depth experience and real-life situations in a rural community;

  • Guidance and mentoring from an experienced rural practitioner;

  • Opportunities to form networks in rural practice;

  • Opportunities to increase understanding and appreciation of health care in rural communities.

What do Rural Supervisors do?

  • Supervise and mentor 1 or 2 2nd Year Medical Students at their practice for 4 weeks between June and July (Mid-Year) OR November and December (End of Year);

  • Provide a supportive environment for students to facilitate learning;

  • Instruct students in applying the principles of basic clinical sciences;

  • Introduce students to life in a rural community by aiding in their involvement in community programs outside the practice.
