Crustaceans are a high value aquaculture product with high global demand. The increasing demand for crustacean has led to a focus on the closure of life-cycle for sustainable production. Research in this group includes the development of aquaculture techniques, especially hatchery and nursery techniques, for the commercially important crustaceans, the mud crab, theblue swimmer crab, the Australian strain of giant freshwater prawn and new ornamental species. There is also a focus on the biology and physiology of larval and juvenile crustaceans.
