The School of Marine and Tropical Biology has an enviable international reputation in teaching, research and research training. Couple this with accessible and diverse habitats, immense biodiversity and a secure political environment, and JCU becomes arguably the best place in the world to study whole-organism biology and ecology. Our courses and research programs enjoy the wonderful richness of the environment - we use reef, wetland, forest and savanna environments to the full. Needless to say, as field-orientated and cosmopolitan biologists we are enthusiastic and committed to our teaching, research and especially our students.
The School of Marine and Tropical Biology is open to both domestic and overseas students, catering from undergraduate levels to post-doctoral fellows. The warm, friendly environment promotes a mix of students from all backgrounds and cultures.
