Research

I have 20 years experience of research into the ecology and physiology of vertebrates in the lab and field, specialising in the physiology and ecology of marsupials.Recently I have been working on the physiological mechanisms of impacts of changing climates on endemic vertebrates of Australia’s wet tropics, including rainforest ringtail possums and microhylid frogs, as well as the ecology of rainforest marsupial folivores.

Student Supervision

Since 1997 I have supervised 30 student research projects (18 post-graduate and 12 undergraduate).Recent projects include:

PhD Joanne Isaac (2004)

Life history variation and reproductive success in the common brushtail possum, Trichosurus vulpecula.

PhD Karen Coombes (2005)

The ecology and habitat utilisation of Lumholtz’s tree kangaroos, Dendrolagus lumholtzi, on the Atherton Tablelands, far north Queensland.

PhD Euan Ritchie (2007)

The ecology and conservation of the Antilopine wallaroo, Macropus antilopinus.

PhD Katherine Jones (2007)

Dietary Selectivity in the Green Ringtail Possum Pseudochirops archeri: The Effect of Plant Secondary Metabolites on Food Preference.

PhD Sarah Kerr (2011)
