Research Interests

  • The taxonomy, systematics and biogeography of terrestrial flatworms of the Australian zoogeographic region.

  • Functional anatomy of the copulatory organs of terrestrial flatworms

  • Identification of invasive species of terrestrial flatworms throughout the Pacific and elsewhere.

  • Free-living marine and freshwater flatworms

Involvement with the School

For 22 years I worked in the School providing specialist technical support service in plant and animal histology, histochemistry and taxonomy, workplace health and safety, and some teaching in the Zoological Techniques and Techniques for Marine Biologists courses. My contributions during this time included the development of techniques for histological studies of corals, sponges and fish gonads, and two chapters (Tissue Processing and Metachromasia) in Laboratory Histopathology: a complete reference edited by A.E. Woods and R.C. Ellis (1994). Now I mainly provide advice on health and safety and related statutory compliance aspects of various facilities, projects and courses.
