Study Area: Zoology
Zoology is the study of the animal world: the ecology, evolution, physiology and behaviour of everything from protozoans to whales. It takes you from the laboratory to wideranging field studies. We investigate what animals are, where and how they adapt to their environments, how they react to environmental changes, and how they interact with plants and other animals.
Zoology is taught within the School of Marine & Tropical Biology, which is the largest research school in tropical biology within Australia.
Postgraduate Research Degrees
Zoology graduates are employed in ecological, educational and conservationrelated fields including national park management, faunal assessment and species conservation, pest and disease control, university teaching and research, museum collecting and research, and zoos. An increasing number of zoologists are self-employed as environmental consultants or contract research workers.
