Computing Facilities are available to all students on all main campuses of the University.
Both Windows and MacOSX computers are available, as well as high capacity laser printers. There are overhead projection facilities available in some of the GATCF labs (for more information see below)

The facilities are open 24 hours/day 7days/week* during each semester. Access is granted via door swipes activated by Student ID Cards. All the facilities have video surveillance cameras for added security.
* Except DA4-149 which has opening times of 8.30am - 5.00pm Monday to Friday.
The facilities are available for any academic purpose. All computers in the facilities have access to eMail and subject courseware as well as:

Information Technology Support
Information Technology Support is coordinated under the Information and Corporate Services Division. Information Services in conjunction with Information Technology & Resources provide the IT support service InfoHelp and the backup support and infrastructure services required for the University Community.
All students automatically receive a Computer Account Code. The Computer Account Code is used to access all JCUNet services, such as eMail, off campus internet sites and access to computer laboratories, in conjunction with the Student ID Card.
Computer Account Codes
- Existing Students Computer Account Codes will be the same as their details from their enrolment year. If you don't have your Computer Account Code details you can get them from InfoHelp in Townsville and Cairns. Photographic identification is required. Students who do not attend either campus, or who would find it difficult to do so, may contact their nearest InfoHelp by telephone or email. See the InfoHelp section below.

Information Technology Orientation
InfoHelp will be conducting IT courses in the Humanities Annex (DA2) Computer Facilities in the first few weeks of semester. The tutorials will show new students how to log in, print, find help, basic email skills and how to log out.
The timetables for these are yet to be established, look out for posters in and around the Computing Facilities or contact InfoHelp in Cairns or Townsville for more information.
Information Services
Some information relevant to your studies at James Cook University is stored electronically. This includes student timetables, accommodation information, the Library Website and InfoHelp.
You can access the University's Information Systems via the World Wide Web WWW. If you have access to a PC, use the WWW browser Firefox.
Information Services in the Library building regularly offers workshops to students on accessing the World Wide Web. Staff at InfoHelp are happy to provide assistance and advice on use of the Web.

InfoHelp provides a central support service for students requiring further assistance or direction with computing and information issues. InfoHelp is your first stop for all your assignment needs.
