Digital Unix Upgrade Schedule [ 7Dec95, 7kb]

Between now and the end of the year we will be doing major upgrades to 
the Central Computing Service. I have detailed the dates here and ask 
that you make your Departmental users aware and report any problems 
back so that there is as little inconvenience as possible.

29-10/2100	1 hour			lionfish, swordfish and sailfish 
					96MB -> 192MB memory upgrades.
					All Academic/Research/Teaching
					Unix services.

10-11/1730	24 hours		Cut over all Computer Centre
					hosts to a subnet. This is the
					culmination of the major campus
					network upgrade.
					All central computing service.

19-11/1930	4 hours			Install latest Digital Unix on
					sailfish.
					All Academic/Research/Teaching
					Unix services.
		24 hours		Oracle will need to be upgraded
					after the system upgrade. This will
					be done on Monday.

26-11/1930	4 hours			Install latest Digital Unix on
					swordfish.
					All Email services.

29-11/2400	N/A			Multi user licenses for the central
					hosts manta and groper terminate.
					General user service will be 
					discontinued for these machines.

3-12/1930	4 hours			Install latest Digital Unix on
					lionfish.
					All Academic/Research/Teaching
					Unix services.

Status of the following software packages on sailfish since the 19/11
upgrade of the operating system to Digital UNIX V3.2. Please note that
these are all upgraded versions as well and you should first read the
release notes.
