OPERATION OF STANDARD ERICSSON HANDSET

  • Dialogue 3210 User Guide

    Preface

A The Ericsson MD110 P.A.B.X. is a mainly digital telephone system. This means that where ever an Ericsson extension is operating, it is impossible to plug in additional services such as answering machines, fax, modems, even another extension in parrallel with the existing extension.

The Ericsson telephones will only work on an Ericsson MD110 telephone system. If you tried to plug the telephone into another systems outlet, damage may be done to the telephone or the telephone system.

The telephone should be kept clean where possible and no stickers or indelible writing should be marked on the phone. If you need to write on the programmable buttons, use a pencil.

If you need to clean your telephone, a spray cleaner may be used, provided you do not use it directly onto the phone.

If you experience difficulties using the telephone you should first ascertain whether it is phone or system fault. You can test the line and system by taking another working telephone and plugging it in to your wall outlet. If the phone works, you know you need a replacement phone.

Sometimes simply unplugging the phone for 10 seconds or so and then plugging it back in will correct any faults.

Try and gather as much information about the fault as you can. It makes fault finding much easier. Once you have this information, please call the Switchboard on 9 to report the fault.

    INCOMING CALLS

There are two types of incoming calls. An internal call can be identified by the long ring, long pause, similar to an American telephone ring. An external call will sound "normal", i.e. ring, ring, pause, ring, ring. To answer lift the receiver.

To make a call, lift the receiver, listen for dial tone and dial the wanted number. Internal extensions at the Douglas Campus begin with 4XXX, 5XXX and 6XXX. There are only two tie lines to Vincent, so if you receive a busy tone you can try again later or dial 813XXX as an external call.
