Services Provided
This Unit is responsible for central computing systems and architecture. Its responsibilities include capacity planning, selection, management and provision of hardware and software and maintenance of hardware and software, services, memberships and qualifications necessary to provide:
- Maintenance, development and documentation of all systems software
including the operating systems, editors, file handling routines, language
compilers and accounting functions on all computers for which ITR is
responsible;
- Systems security and AUScert membership and response;
- Management of machine room operations including operation of the
computers, provision of stores and stationery, backup, security and continuity
control and fielding support enquiries relating to operational problems;
- Electronic Mail and Directory services;
- Electronic News and Newsgroup maintenance;
- Advice, management and day to day service for hardware in support of
general computing, high performance computing, web, courseware and library servers;
- Computer Account administration and maintenance service - ACADEMS Service
integrated with the Human Resources and Student Information Systems to maintain
currency, accuracy and authenticated access to University resources.
