General Information
Services Provided
This Unit is responsible for the corporate information and reporting needs of the University. Its responsibilities, in collaboration with Divisions and Faculties providing staff and student Information, include advice, needs analysis, selection and provision of packages to meet corporate information management, reporting and dissemination needs, maintenance, development and enhancement of such systems and services, memberships and qualifications necessary to provide:
- Information Systems development and support
Installation, development, maintenance and enhancement of corporate information and decision making systems. Provide the necessary system development skills, technical support and backup for Faculty and Divisional staff involved in either the delivery and/or the usage of corporate finance, human resources, student and library information systems; - Training development
In conjunction with staff responsible for the delivery of services, development and production of training materials for these applications; - Database Management services
Performance and resource monitoring, upgrading of and access management for corporate information systems. Liaison, negotiation and planning with commercial suppliers of Technology One Finance One, Matman CardSmart System, Concept Human Resources, Dynix Library Catalogue Management, RecFind Records Management System, Student Card and Records systems. Local planning for wrote systems, namely Student Information System, Alumni and Convocation, Room Bookings and Timetable systems; - Formulation and review of Business Continuity Plan (BCP)
This plan has been completed for corporate information systems. It is reviewed annually to include changes and upgrades to systems. Where it is financially possible, testing of procedures are completed; - Advise on selection of new information systems
As required form Working Groups to investigate and recommend better systems or packages to meet administrative information and management decision making requirements and enhance system integration and data integrity; - Development and maintenance of JCU's World wide Web and Web based services
Selection, installation and implementation of products and development and maintenance of systems and services to enhance JCU's World Wide Web presence eg search software, software for the delivery, management and maintenance of static and interactive pages; - Support for telephone accounting and directory services;
- Field and investigate misuse enquiries and where appropriate instigate disciplinary procedures;
- Provision of data in support of authentication services
Support the processes which provide data from the HR and SIS systems to enable auto account creation. Authentication mechanisms controls various levels of resource access for all University clients; - DETYA and University reporting requirements;
- Queensland Audit and University Audit requirements
Security and access control procedures, monitoring systems software changes and procedural change control of corporate systems to meet audit requirements;
Applications for Access to Administrative Systems
Access to Administrative systems can be made by downloading the appropritate document below and forwarding the completed form to the Corporate Systems Authorisation Officer at ITR. Student Records System forms and Read-Only Student System forms should be forwarded to the Manager, Student Administration instead.
