Advisory Services
The main advisory service for the ITR program is available through InfoHelp. InfoHelp service desks are located in Library buildings. InfoHelp may be contacted either in person, by e-mail to InfoHelp@jcu.edu.au or by phone (4781 5500 or 5500 internally). It is the main point of contact for enquiries concerning
- Resolution of computer problems
- Technical Support
- New computer accounts and email passwords
- Assisting and locating information for essays and assignments
- Advice on information resources and strategies
- Assistance with electronic databases and Web search engines
- Development of research skills
- Information about training courses
- Extensive range of printed and Web guides computer
- General Access & Teaching Computing Facilities (GATCF)
All reports of problems, whether relating to software or hardware (eg. unserviceable equipment), with local and networked services and with use of microcomputers, as well as requests relating to installation of equipment, should be directed to InfoHelp in the first instance.
InfoHelp can also be contacted directly on operational matters, such as requests for print queues, availability of computing or communications infrastructure.
Enquiries relating to operating policies and to service difficulties relating to problems with computer support, systems support, or network support which cannot be resolved at a lower level should be made by e-mail to the Director or by phone on extension 4275.
Enquiries, such as explanations of ITR procedures and financial matters, should be made by e-mail to the Secretary or by phone on extension 4545.
ITR supplies advice to users on the selection of PC hardware and software. For such advice, InfoHelp should be contacted in the first instance.
