Speech and Language Clinic

Speech and Language Clinic building

The JCU Speech and Language Clinic provides assessment and therapy services to members of the public who are unable to access speech pathology services elsewhere in Townsville/Thuringowa.

Facilities include six clinic rooms for the assessment and treatment of clients and an audiology booth where hearing may be screened. The clinic is well equipped with a wide range of up-to-date assessment and therapy resources.

The Speech and Language Clinic is located in the Rehabilitation and Exercise Sciences building at JCU (map showing location of clinic)

Speech Pathology students work in the clinic to develop their skills in the assessment and treatment of a range of communication disorders under the supervision of experienced, registered speech pathologists.

Sessions in the clinic room are supervised by the supervising speech pathologist either

  • via a video link to the adjacent monitor room, or

  • through the observation window in each clinic room, or

  • by being present in the room with the student and client.

A receptionist and waiting area is located at the building entrance to welcome clients to their sessions and assist with future appointments.
