Student Feedback about Subjects (SFS)

SFS questionnaires can be accessed through StudentsOnline from week 11 of study periods 1 & 2 until exam results are published. Students use their JCU id and password to access the questionnaires. Once a student has logged on, one questionnaire for each subject for which the student is currently enrolled will appear for completion and submission. Students can only submit each questionnaire once. The information is then stored in a database. Student identification numbers are linked to the responses for three main reasons:

  1. 1.

to prevent any student from submitting more than one survey,

  2. 2.

to ensure participation in the ballot for the lap top prize, and

  3. 3.

to allow Teaching Evaluation Office staff to investigate relationships between SFS results and various characteristics of the student population.

At no point will an individual student response be identified or linked with any reporting characteristics. All student responses will remain confidential and anonymous.

The data is processed into a report that includes the number and percentage of response level; and an average or mean, and total number of responses and percentage for each question. These reports are then made accessible through StaffOnline to all relevant parties.

Reports will be distributed as outlined in Chapter 1 of the JCU Quality Audit Performance Portfolio. The written comments for each subject are accessible to the staff member/s who taught the subject. To protect student anonymity SFS and SFT reports will not be available if the number of responses for the subject evaluated is 5 or less.
