Applying for undergraduate courses

School leavers

If you are a current Australian Year 12 student, you apply via the Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre (QTAC) or online using the TTT application service. Your high school will provide instruction and guidance on the procedure.

Some medical and health science courses require an additional application to JCU. For further information, visit the Faculty of Medicine, Health & Molecular Sciences Application Forms.

Other applicants

All other applicants (except international applicants or those applying for certificate courses) use a QTAC Tertiary Study Application Form. Online applications can be made via QTAC. The form is also available in QTAC’s publication ‘QTAC Guide’, which can be purchased from most Queensland newsagents. There is an application fee for QTAC applications. The closing date for applications without attracting a late fee is Friday 28 September 2007. JCU offers mid-year entry for many courses. The closing date for applications submitted via QTAC for mid-year entry is generally mid-May. Confirm the date with JCU’s Student Enquiry Centre.

For general telephone enquiries to QTAC call (07) 3858 1222.

Certificate Courses

Certificate courses are part-time courses designed for mature-age students. They involve the completion of two subjects, and are offered over a wide range of study areas - from business through to counselling. Certificates give you a taste of university study, and subjects successfully completed can be credited towards a degree program if students decide to proceed to further studies.

Application for Certificate courses is made by applying directly to JCU. No application to QTAC is necessary. Applicants enroll by filling out an Application for Undergraduate Certificate Courses form (pdf file, 76kb, 4 pages), available to download from Forms. Further information is available from JCU’s Student Enquiry Centre.

Miscellaneous applicants

A miscellaneous student is a student enrolled in one or more subjects or a short course, but not a full course. Applications are made by applying directly to JCU. Applicants enrol by filling out an Application for Miscellaneous Enrolment form (pdf file, 180kb, 5 pages), available to download from Forms. Further information is available from JCU’s Student Enquiry Centre.

International applicants

International applicants can apply online at the International Student Centre or contact the International Student Centre directly on international@jcu.edu.au.
