School of Indigenous Australian Studies (SIAS)

SIAS provides specialist services for Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander and Pacific Islander students. The School offers:

  • support for Indigenous Australian students who are enrolled in courses across JCU;

  • access courses that prepare Indigenous students for entry to degree programs at JCU;

  • a range of specialist courses designed to equip graduates with skills to take back to further their own communities;

  • support for the National Indigenous Cadetship Project, which matches Indigenous students with participating employers;

  • opportunities for non-Indigenous students to learn about Indigenous Australia.

SIAS has pleasant facilities on the Townsville and Cairns campuses that house teaching and study areas, computer rooms, common rooms and courtyard areas.
