Welcoming Indigenous students

Montage of Indigenous students

More than 400 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students study with James Cook University across the campuses in Townsville and Cairns, as well as the study centres in Mackay, Mount Isa and Thursday Island. Our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students come from a diverse range of communities – from interstate, urban, rural and remote areas, including the Gulf of Carpentaria, Cape York and the Torres Strait.

Indigenous students are well represented in areas such as education, social sciences and health, and are succeeding in other areas including business, science and law. A growing number of Indigenous students are also undertaking postgraduate studies.
