Indigenous Tutorial Assistance Scheme (ITAS)
ITAS offers tutoring to Indigenous Australian students enrolled at JCU. This scheme arranges for qualified tutors to assist Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students with their studies:

for a short period, a teaching period or longer

as individuals, or in small groups of people who may have similar needs.
ITAS is funded by the Department of Education, Science and Training (DEST). The scheme is administered by the School of Indigenous Australian Studies (SIAS) on the Townsville and Cairns campuses.
Who is eligible to receive assistance?
Indigenous students enrolled in any undergraduate degree at JCU can access ITAS. The assistance is available to both internal and external students. The tuition must be directly related to the course of study being undertaken. Assistance is not available for personal interest tutoring such as music and sport.
What assistance is available?
Students may be eligible for tutorial assistance of up to two hours a week for each subject. Additional assistance can be accessed prior to examinations through an application process.
