Welcome
Welcome to the Quality Enhancement Office.
James Cook University is committed to improving the quality of its professional and academic services to attain its strategic intent of ‘A brighter future for life in the tropics worldwide’.
To achieve this, JCU has recently developed a Quality Enhancement Framework and will embed the framework principles into all academic and professional activities to consistently improve its performance.
The University recognises the importance of using self assessment to inform planning and measuring, monitoring and evaluating the outcomes of its core activities. Self assessment has been recently strengthened and is now included:
-
at University level through recommendations from the Australian Universities Quality Agency (AUQA) panel visit in 2004 and preparation of the panel visit in 2011;
-
at University level through annual thematic reviews;
-
at Faculty and Divisional level through a planned cycle of Faculty and Divisional reviews;
-
at Faculty level through the Faculty Academic Program reports; and
-
at course level through the course performance reports.
The Quality Office works closely with a number of areas, particularly Teaching and Learning and Corporate Planning and Performance to provide a coordinated approach to enhancement activities at a University level and assistance with components of the quality cycle at Divisional and Faculty level.
