SPA is an student organized committee that initiates events for psychology students at James Cook University Cairns. SPA’s mission statement is to facilitate peer learning in a relaxed and fun environment.
The SPA committee consists of psychology students willing to give their time, resources and energy to promoting activities for learning and social purposes.

“Maturity Is Determined By Age”
The highlight event for SPA is the annual 1st year student psychology debate. SPA and the 1st year student psychology debate are celebrating 17 years in Cairns.
The debate is scheduled for end of week 8 - Friday 26th September, 2008 at the Crowther Lecture Theatre at JCU Cairns Campus, from 6pm – 9pm. For your copy of the debate information flyer with more details click on the link below.

NEURONS Art Competition
Another new event for 2008 was inspired by Dr Deborah Graham and is called the NEURONS Art Competition. This event invites all JCU students to submit art work in three categories to display on show at an exhibition in second semester - August 28th. For more details please click on the links below.

Group attendance to The Melbourne Comedy Festival Road Show Event in honour of Shelley Crawford's humour research project.

The screening of 'Secrets of the Mind' featuring renowned neuroscientist V.S. Ramachandran in support of 1st year understanding of brain anatomy and area related functions.

End of Semester Event & After Party:
Ericksonian Hypnosis and Neuro Linguistic Programming Master Trainer and APS Registered Psychologist Terrence McClendon MA visited JCU for the first time.
