This transmission electron micrograph shows a zoosporangium of B. dendrobatidis cut through the discharge papilla. The contents of the zoosporangium have now developed to the zoospore stage. Zoospores are present in cross section. The single polar flagellum of each zoospore can be seen as a slightly curved elongated structure.

Batrochochytrium has a large number of lipid globules in the zoospore. These appear as pale circular areas with an ill defined margin. The dense mass in the centre of the zoospore is an aggregation of ribosomes.
