There appears to be three chytrid infected zones in Australia at the present time:
  • East coast zone from north of Cooktown to northern Victoria
  • Southern South Australian zone centered on Adelaide
  • Southwest zone centered on Perth.
Records from Melbourne and Geelong have all been of captive amphibians in institutions.

The front lines in the zones have not been well defined. More extensive testing is needed to determine these and to be able to designate areas as chytrid-free.
