Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis: the video!

by Lee Berger

The link below will download an AVI file. This shows zoosporangia and zoospores of the amphibian chytrid, Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis, in culture. The zoosporangia are the larger spherical masses some of which contain zoospores while others are empty. The zoospores are the highly motile small bodies seen moving rapidly across the field of view.

Lee Berger made this video at the Australian Animal Health Laboratory, Geelong. The copyright remains with her.

The file is of course rather large (approximately 3 Meg); so it may take up to 15 minutes to download. The video lasts for about 11 seconds.
